I am primarily focused on the figure with some exploration into nonrepresentational imagery. I am not attached to "realistic" rendering for its own sake, but I find that recognizable imagery is more satisfying for communicating my response to people and situations, particularly the nude.

The one significant aspect that computers and other high tech tools remove, is the organic nature of physical materials. This sensual characteristic between the artist, the materials and the viewer is something I want to preserve despite our high tech advances which as an engineer, I am all too familiar.

Some of my favorite artists in no particular order: Rembrandt, Eric Fischl, Egon Schiele, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Alex Kanevsky, Gerhard Richter, Jeremy Lipking, Valintine Serov, Anders Zorn, and Käthe Kollwitz.
